Well it’s been quite a week for WDW news hasn’t it?
I was quite excited to see Wishes… When we first booked our mega-moon trip to Walt Disney World for July I absorbed every vlog I could find of people showcasing their holidays in the ‘most magical place on earth’. Catching a glimpse of ‘Wishes’ gave me a lump in my throat and I just knew I would love it.
I tried to get Mr. J to watch the Disney vlogs with me but he said that he didn’t want to spoil the impact of seeing everything for the first time when we are actually there. Since then I’ve put a stop to watching the vlogs (as much as I am itching to watch every bit of footage that is out there)… So I can’t bring myself to watch the new ‘Happily Ever After’ promo video, I started but guilt set in and I stopped! I want to (and hope to) be surprised and stunned when I see it for the first time. So I can’t comment too much on what the show appears to be, but the concept art looks amazing! The projections look breathtaking…
There’s something about the nighttime shows at Disney Parks that make me very emotional. I feel so in the moment and very aware of how lucky I am to be in my favourite place. I loved ‘Dreams’ at Disneyland Paris and to be honest, as much as I am sad that I won’t get to experience ‘Wishes’ right now, ‘Happily Ever After’ could become my new favourite!

As I haven’t seen ‘Wishes’ I can’t comment on whether this is the right decision by Disney or not. I can’t tell you if the show was out of date or needed a refresh but I’m excited by the prospect of seeing the new hits, like Moana, being integrated with all of our old favourites and I’m sure it will be as emotional and wonderful as ‘Wishes’ was. I’m looking forward to seeing how the ‘Happily Ever After’ works with ‘Once Upon a Time’. A comment on the Disney Parks Blog post stated that the two shows will complement one another, which the names suggest…
But I’m also hoping that this announcement will pave the way for a new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom. Please don’t mention Main Street Electrical Parade – I almost cry every time I even talk about it… It is the one thing that I remember most vividly about my early trips to Disneyland Paris as a child and the thought of seeing it in Walt Disney World on my honeymoon was almost too much excitement to deal with. Needless to say, I was gutted that it has been moved.
Perhaps ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘Happily Ever After’ are just the beginning of a nighttime shake-up for Magic Kingdom. Please WDW give us a parade!
Well a girl can wish and dream right 😉 ?
Question of the day: What are your thoughts on Wishes leaving Walt Disney World?
